Following the analysis of the "Educobarometer" study, a questionnaire that porvoides direct knowledge about the opinion of staff in Salesian schools (SDB) in Europe, the Salesian Schools Commission Europe has commissioned the Salesian Don Bosco University in Madrid to organise a survey in which all the schools of the SDB Provinces of Spain, Italy, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, Belgium, Croatia, Turkey and the Province of Poland-Warsaw will participate. The schools of the Provinces of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) of Spain, Hungary and Poland will also participate.
A survey with more than 100,000 responses is expected which will provide the Youth Ministry Sector with very useful clues to further improve the emotional wellbeing of students and educators in Salesian centres.
The research team consists of the following professors:
– Gregorio Pérez Bonet (Chief Researcher);
– Antonio Rodríguez López;
– Rubén Iduriaga Carbonero;
– Lorena Silva Balaguera;
Antonio Rodríguez, coordinator of the Commission of Salesian Schools in Europe and member of the Youth Ministry Sector, explained that there will be three questionnaire modules: one for students aged between 10 and 16, one for students aged 17 and over, and one for teachers.
Each school and each Province will have access to its own results, so that they can receive valuable ideas to design social-emotional support strategies for the entire educational community, from students to teachers and even managers, and ultimately promote actions that help their community to live better and even happier.
The theme of socio-emotional wellbeing is fundamental for the accompaniment provided by the Don Bosco Preventive System in Salesian schools. Especially because the educators of Salesian centres are called, by their charism, to accompany young people so that they know how to recognise emotions, strengthen ties, awaken optimism and adequately express/regulate their emotional world.
"Our schools will be able to show off a new logo that identifies us as centres that take exquisite care of the socio-emotional wellbeing of our educational communities," commented the General Councilor for Salesian Youth Ministry, Fr Miguel Angel García Morcuende.
More news and information about this initiative, which focuses on prevention and happiness in Salesian schools in Europe, will be shared in the coming months.
