The agreement was reached thanks to the efforts of the National Council of Salesian Education (CONESA), with the aim of improving connectivity and access to cutting-edge educational tools that will benefit over 28,000 students and about 1,500 teachers who are part of the CES at the national level.
The document was signed by Fr Luis Mosquera, Provincial Economer and Legal Representative of the Salesian Society in Ecuador, and by Engineer Juan Pablo Carvallo, Executive Director of CEDIA. Fr Juan Flores, President of CONESA, Fr Ángel Lazo, Contract Administrator and Director of the Cuenca-Yanuncay Community, as well as Directors and Presidents of the CESs were also present.
Fr Lazo stressed that this agreement will strengthen the educational mission according to Salesian principles, focusing on improving connectivity, technological training and access to advanced digital resources, to meet the needs of quality education.
The CEDIA team, electronically, has provided several advanced network services such as: Eduroam, Zoom, online radio, Filesender, Venue, Escoolar, Edpuzzle and LMS Elsa. Among the advantages of these services, there is the fact that students will be able to access multimedia and interactive academic content such as simulators, video libraries, live courses, consultation platforms, didactic video editing and a methodological approach to upside-down teaching.
In addition, teachers will be guaranteed access to training and refresher courses through the Continuing Education School. The institutions will also be equipped with equipment and systems for protecting computer networks and controlling external threats.
The agreement, which will last until 31 December 2026, reflects a long-term commitment to strengthening the educational and technological capacities of CESs in Ecuador. The ECU Province is confident that these processes will improve Salesian education in the country.
Finally, priority works have been identified that will not incur costs for these services, thus ensuring fair access to the tools and resources provided by this agreement.
