After first being welcomed at the airport and being accommodated at the Provincial House, Cardinal Fernández Artime met with Fr José Pastor Ramírez, Superior of ANT and his Council, for an all-round dialogue on the strengths and challenges of the Province and on the path of the Congregation.
Subsequently, again at the Provincial House in Santo Domingo, he participated in a lunch with the benefactors of the Salesian work, the heads of the Salesian Family groups present in the Province territory and the ecclesiastical authorities.
At the end of the afternoon he gave a special interview for the Salesian Bulletin and "Juventus Don Bosco", in which he was interviewed by nine-year-old children – the age Don Bosco was when he first had his famous charismatic dream. Speaking to his small interviewers, the 10th Successor of Don Bosco addressed a warm invitation: "Take advantage of the opportunities you have in your Salesian school and be happy!"
On Friday, 9 February 2024, Cardinal Fernández Artime meets with the Salesians from throughout the Province. On Saturday, 10 February he will participate in the Youth Forum on the Environment to be held in Ecobosco, in Villa Altagracia, and will then preside over the Eucharist with the Salesian Family in the parish dedicated to St John Bosco in Santo Domingo.
"This visit represents a special opportunity to strengthen the bond between the Salesians of the Antilles and the Rector Major, as well as to address important issues for the Salesian mission in the Province", the Salesians in ANT said.
