RMG – Team of experts gather for a review of the new Salesian document on communication

(ANS– Turin) – Carry out an accurate review of the new document on communication, which will accompany the journey of the Salesian Congregation in the coming years – this was the commitment of a team of experts in mass media and communication, which met from 22 to 25 January 2024 in Turin, in the Salesian house at Valdocco.

Participating in the work, under the guidance of Fr Gildasio Mendes, General Councillor for Social Communication: Luca Caruso, journalist; Fr Fabio Díaz, Delegate for Youth Ministry and Social Communication in the St Louis Bertrand Province, Colombia-Medellín (COM); Margherita Ferro, writer; Flavia Trupia; professor of rhetoric, writing and communication, administrator of "Per La Retorica".

During the stay in Valdocco, the team had the opportunity to meet Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians, and the members of the General Council of the Congregation,and spent time in a climate of fraternity and sharing of the Salesian charism which fostered the reflection and work of the group.

The meeting of specialists also took place on the day of the anniversary of Saint Francis de Sales, patron saint of journalists and great communicator, chosen by Don Bosco as a model and from which the name of the Congregation derives. His feast was celebrated with a solemn Mass presided over by the Rector Major in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians, on the evening of 24 January.

At the end of the work, Fr Gildasio Mendes thanked the participants for their great commitment and dedication in revising the text. Now, based on the proposals and suggestions collected, a second draft of the document will be prepared, on which work will continue.

Next June, then, the text will be presented to the General Council for study and final revision.
