Archbishop of Kolkata, Archbishop Thomas D'Souza, presided over the Holy Eucharist for the inaugural Mass.
Moreover, three books were released on this event: a Comic Book on Saint Artemides Zatti; a Photo Directory of all the Salesian Brothers of South Asia; and last but not least, “A Dream That Took Wings. Don Bosco’s Vision and the Transformative Legacy for Youth and the Salesian Family Worldwide”.
The book was released at the 9th Salesian Brothers Congress at Kolkata by Brother Jean Paul Muller, the Economer General. Published by Kristu Jyoti Publications, Bangalore, and compiled and translated by Father Biju Michael, the book contains twelve chapters, each of which draws inspiration from the dream that Johnny Bosco had at the age of nine, which took wings to form the Salesian charism and continues to make others dream.
Don Bosco’s dream has become one of the symbols and one of the most eloquent syntheses of the Salesian Charism. The Salesian Family is marking the 200th anniversary of the Dream of Don Bosco in 2024, and the Rector Major has announced the Strenna for the year to be: “The dream that makes you dream. A heart that transforms wolves into lambs.” The 12 chapters of the book are animation tools for the Salesian Family members. Every month, one or more keywords of the dream are stressed, and the scripture readings and charismatic readings are to help reflect on the aspects of the charism and mission.
All the Religious Congregations of the Salesian Family of the South Asia Region have collaborated to make these animation tools for the year, providing appropriate readings from their respective Constitutions for the communities to reflect on. It is hoped that each Salesian Family community will find time every month to reflect together on the dream that makes others dream. The book is a part of the Salesian Spirituality series published by the Kristu Jyoti Publications for the South Asia Region.
