Italy – New VIS Executive Committee members appointed

20 October 2023

(ANS - Rome) - The assembly of the members of the International Volunteers for Development (VIS), Don Bosco Missions (Missioni Don Bosco), The Don Bosco Foundation in the World (Fondazione Don Bosco Nel Mondo) and National Headquarters of the Salesian Missions (Centro Nazionale Opere Salesiane), took place on the afternoon of Tuesday, 17 October. They appointed the two new members of the VIS Executive Committee, the body that takes care of its ordinary and extraordinary administration. Making up the VIS board will be Fr Luca Barone, from the Salesian Generalate, and Fr Daniel Antúnez, the President of Don Bosco Missions (Missioni Don Bosco), who takes on the role of the treasurer.

The decision followed the resignation of Br Giampietro Pettenon, who after a long experience on the VIS board has taken up a new post in his home Salesian Province at Udine. The other member of the Executive Committee who has resigned is Fr Giordano Piccinotti, who has been appointed by Pope Francis as the President of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See (APSA). VIS expressed gratitude to both for their active role and the spirit they infused and wished them the best of luck in their new posts.

The two new members of the Executive Committee will join the team already composed of its President Michela Vallarino, Marco Faggioli and Francesco Mele (both Vice-Presidents, the latter appointed by the Assembly of Participants), Jennifer Avakian and Stefano Di Maria.
