Italy - National Centre for Salesian Works (CNOS): entry of the new director Fr Elio Cesari

29 August 2023

(ANS – Rome) – Monday, August 28, in the chapel of the Centro Nazionale Opere Salesiane in Rome, saw the entry of the new director, Fr Elio Cesari. The celebration was led by Fr Stefano Aspettati, Superior of the Salesian Central Italy Circumscription (ICC), in the presence of Fr Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, Councillor for the Mediterranean Region, Fr Roberto Dal Molin, Superior of the Lombardy-Emilia Salesian Province (ILE), and Salesians from the Pius XI community.

"The core of your mission is communion, we need to walk together, to build community" said Fr Stefano Esperettati during the homily . "We have a great task in bringing various settings together in a single Salesian vision, in a dialogue where everyone can have a voice to build this unified vision. The goal is always the same. Who leads us to do it? The Lord and young people, especially the poorest and most abandoned."

Fr Godoy recalled the key thread that runs through the national centre to explain the sense of continuity: "The key thread that runs throughout the house is important because when one person replaces another, continuity is at the centre. This is the meaning of this key threade: it guarantees continuity even with different people and starts from faith, from Christ. The thread is the connection between all those who work here for a project that began before Fr Roberto and will continue even after Fr Elio. The project guarantees continuity: you, Fr Elio, must guarantee this, remaining faithful to our beneficiaries and to our charism."
