Father Emilius Salema was born on 17 July 1968, in Mashati, Tanzania. He made his novitiate in Moshi, Tanzania and his first profession on 14 August 1995. He made his perpetual profession on 16 August 2001, and was ordained a priest on 12 July 2003, after his studies in Theology at Tangaza University College (Nairobi).
Father Salema has accumulated a very rich Salesian experience. Vice-Rector in the Don Bosco Embu community from 2005-2008 and in Upper Hill from 2013-2016; Principal of the Don Bosco Embu Technical Secondary School from 2006 to 2008 and in Mafinga Seminary from 2008 to 2013. He was Rector and Parish Priest of the Sanctuary of Mary Help of Christians in Upper Hill, Nairobi. He has a licentiate in Sacred Liturgy and is currently pursuing a doctorate in the same area.
Since September 2020 he has been the Economer of the Don Bosco Utume Theological formation community. At the provincial level, Father Salema was also a member of the AFE Provincial Council from 2011 to 2014.
The New TZA Province was canonically erected by the Major Rector last January, and Father Salema's installation will mark the official start of this new circumscription, born from the AFE Province, and comprising around a hundred confreres and a dozen communities.
