Saint John Bosco once uttered, “I will never die if you become the Don Bosco of tomorrow”. This exhortation resonated with the Educative Pastoral Community of Don Bosco Technical Institute-Makati, Philippines. Inspired by this, the Pastoral Ministry of Don Bosco Makati endeavoured to take the initial steps to transform the institution into a powerhouse for Salesian vocations by celebrating Vocation Month with the theme “Send Me.”

Activities that bannered the celebration included the Vocation Stories and Testimonies of Salesian Priests and Brothers during the Morning Talks, Vocation Promotions by the Pre-Novitiate and Post-Novitiate candidates and Salesian Theologians, and special lessons on vocations incorporated in Christian Living Classes and Guidance classes. Prayer for Vocations and Votive Masses for Vocations augmented the celebration.

A highlight of the celebration is the overnight immersion with the Salesian community wherein the Seekers, students who have shown an interest in the Salesian vocation, were invited to interact and live with our assigned Salesians in the convent, letting them experience and appreciate first-hand the beauty of their calling.

The culmination of the Vocation Month entitled “Accepting the Gift of Vocation in the Family” was a webinar for parents conducted last April 15, 2023. It focused on the vital role of the family, especially the parents, in promulgating the vocation and assisting the young in the discernment of their mission.

“We hope that this endeavour translates into a bountiful harvest of vocations to continue the work of the Salesians all over the world, bestowed with the grace and charisms of St. John Bosco” Don Bosco Makati's pastoral care team stated in conclusion.
