The official appointment, dated July 14, is by Fr. Leonardo Mancini, Superior of the Special Circumscription Piedmont and Aosta Valley (ICP), as well as President of Elledici Publishing House, in dialogue with the Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr. Stefano Martoglio, and is part of the development plan proposed by the publishing house, which will thus be able to make use of the new director’s precious wealth of professionalism and experience gained in ecclesial, pastoral and academic contexts.
Fr. Rossano Sala, Licentiate and Doctorate in Fundamental Theology at the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy, is a Full Professor of Pastoral Theology and Youth Ministry at the Salesian Pontifical University; Consultor in the General Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops; Director of the Note di Pastorale Giovanile magazine; Member of the National Center for Salesian Works of Italy; Member of the Board of Directors of the Elledici publishing house; Former Special Secretary of the XV General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the theme "Young People, Faith and Vocational Discernment".
“After the experience of the Synod on Young People, along with my academic and pastoral assignments and in continuity with the direction of ' Note di pastorale giovanile,' I am grateful to be able to continue my service to the Church and to Don Bosco by offering the skills acquired and my work for the Salesian Congregation's Publishing House,” said Fr. Sala. “The challenges that young people and today's cultural context pose to catechesis, evangelization, and pastoral care, exhort us to continue with momentum and determination in elaborating a deeply Christian thought and in offering publishing proposals capable of transmitting the beauty of the Gospel message, according to renewed and current paths.”
Fr. Sala's new post comes at the end of the path of reorganization and restructuring of the Publishing House brought to a successful conclusion over the past two years. In fact, despite the difficulties imposed by a generalized crisis in Catholic publishing and the upheaval created by the pandemic, the Publishing House, which in 2021 produced more than 130 titles between new releases and reprints, along with three magazines including Dossier catechista, an absolute leader in the field for more than 30 years, has been able to restructure its organization and maintain the quality of its catalogue, and is now ready to plan its future in the wake of the mission conferred on Don Bosco in the Church.
“We are especially pleased to welcome Father Rossano Sala as the new Editorial Director of Elledici. His skills and experience express the concreteness of the development plan that the publisher is pursuing with ever-improving results. We are happy to thus be able to bring into play the best possible energies to continue to respond to the changing needs of society with determination and in an effective and innovative way, keeping faithful to the educational mission in the sign of Don Bosco," said Luca Priuli, CEO of the Salesian publisher.
