Liberia – Four weeks of joy and renewal for 500 young people from Monrovia

28 July 2016

(ANS - Monrovia) – Five hundred young people, fifty leaders, two young volunteers Stanislaus and Robert from Poland, two Salesians Fr Raphael and Fr Albert are the participants in the four weeks of the Holiday Camp 2016 in Matadi, Monrovia.

The parents love it because they see their children occupied during the period when the schools are closed. It is one of the achievements of Don Bosco's pedagogy that aims to keep the young people always engaged in good, useful, enjoyable, honest activities.

Everybody has a soul! And so too for the Holiday Camp. "With Jesus we journey in an adventure of the Spirit" is the theme that gives life to the camp. It provides the content for the daily reflections and prayers that motivate the leaders and enrich interpersonal relationships.

Don Bosco insisted on holiness as the objective of every activity. He was convinced that holiness can be reached through happiness. Discovering that Jesus is the source of life and joy is the surest way to happiness.

There was a break in the running of the Holiday Camp in 2015 because the school continued lessons in the months of July and August, since classes had started six months late on account of the Ebola epidemic.

With the help of many benefactors, the Salesians can again offer many young men and women of Monrovia these days of rest and renewal, relaxation and joy.
