Fr Gildasio Mendes, General Councilor for Social Communication, underlined some important characteristics of inculturation and anthropology to be true communicators of the Gospel, inviting us to reflect on how to use the arts as a tool for evangelization in the digital universe.
Fr Alfred Maravilla, General Councilor for the Missions, shared a reflection on the mentality of today's young people, the so-called “millennials” and the “Generation Z”, to activate responses in the local contexts where the Delegates work.
Important reflections emerged from the sharing in groups which enriched all the participants and, in particular, time was dedicated to the work of the two Delegates of each Province to plan concrete actions for a common journey.
The enthusiasm of all the Salesians present shows the desire to bear witness to the Gospel and make full use of the potential that the new forms of communication offer us: collaboration between the missions, which can carry forward the "news" and the "contents" of the evangelizing action, and social communication, which possesses the means and the skills to make the Good News known in today's world, is fundamental.
Next year's Salesian Mission Day will address precisely this theme and joint work between the two Sectors will be proposed to the Provinces to be active Salesian evangelizers where young people are present.
