The online meeting, coordinated by Fr. Ernest Rosario, from India, was attended by Fr. Harris Pakkam (Vatican), Fr. Ricardo Cámpoli (Argentina), Fr. Mariusz Jawny (Poland), Fr. John Paul Swaminathan (France), Fr. Javier Valiente (Spain), Fr. Jerome Quinto (Philippines), Fr. Donnie Duchin (Philippines), Fr. Jiji Kalavanal (India), Fr. P. T. Joseph (India), and Fr. Michael Makri (India).
Initially, Fr. Mendes spoke about how communication has taken the centre stage all around the globe during this COVID crisis and of how important it is to families, education, business, religion and education. He highlighted that we as Salesians are responding creatively and actively to the Covid Crisis with many educative, communicative initiatives and actions of solidarity taken by all Provinces around the globe.
During the meeting, each of the participants shared the digital projects they are developing in their Provinces and contributed concretely indicating necessary steps we have to take together to continue to advance and implement the digitization in our communities and provinces.
Fr. Mendes reinforced the importance of supporting digital transformation, modernization and technological innovation in the Provinces always working closer to the Social Communication Delegate and the Salesians, and moving forward together, collaborating and working on communication, considering the charismatic and the Salesian educative mission.
The next meeting of the group will be on August 24th, 2021.
