Rwanda - Huye District Mayor commends Salesians’ role In TVET Education

(ANS – Rwanda) - The Mayor of Huye District Mr. Ange Sebutege has paid a visit to Don Bosco Rango Technical and Vocational Training School to get information concerning the construction project of the school’s building that will host students of Culinary Arts and Hairdressing departments.

The building, which is under construction,was financed by the “German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development” through“Don Bosco Mondo” which distributed the financial support via “Don Bosco Tech Africa” as coordinating body of all the Salesian Technical Schools in Africa and Madagascar.

In atelephone interview, the District’s Mayor revealed to the Salesian provincial Media Officer that his visit was in line with regular visits to development infrastructures in the district; however, he said, “this was also an opportunity to thank the development partners for their contribution to the district’s development.”

He said that “having the Don Bosco TVET School inTumba sector (Rango) is a big contribution to the technical Education programme since many young people get needed technical skills that help them to make a living.”

He commends the contribution of the Salesians to the TVET sector saying that “Every year more than 60 students graduate from DB Rango TVET school and they are able to create their own jobs.”

“This project has employed some people,which is also an additional role in the development of the district and especially of residents of Tumba Sector” he noted

Currently the Salesians have three TVET Schools in Rwanda specifically in Gikomero (Don Bosco Muhazi,  Gasabo District), Gatenga (Kicukiro District) and Rango (Huye District).
