London, Great Britain – June 2024 – On Saturday 15 June, King Charles III of the United Kingdom, made public the list of honours for his birthday, a list that collects the different orders of awards and recognitions awarded by virtue of their merits to the citizens of the United Kingdom and the other fourteen realms of the Commonwealth. Among them is Maureen Devereux, the mother of Sean Devereux – Salesian past pupil and Salesian Cooperator, teacher and volunteer murdered in Kismayo, Somalia, in January 1993, at the age of 28, while working on development projects for UNICEF. The woman, co-founder and administrator of the "Sean Devereux" Children's Fund, will be awarded the honour of Member of the Order of the British Empire for the services she continues to give, in memory of her son, in the fields of education and humanitarian support for young people in Africa. “I am shocked, humbled and deeply honoured" commented Maureen Devereux. I accept it on behalf of the Fund, its dedicated trustees, past and present and the very many friends and family who have helped establish, run and support our charity over many years. The essence of Sean lives on in us today more surely than his death, to keep his vision alive and The Sean Devereux Children's Fund continues to help less fortunate Children in Africa.”

Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – June 2024 – Salesian Mission Day was held on 8 June at the Don Bosco Technological Institute in Port Moresby,  the theme being "Builders of dialogue". Members of the Salesian Family participated, including ADMA, Past Pupils, FMA, Caritas Sisters of Jesus, Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians, Salesian Cooperators and Salesians. The programme began with a stimulating Taizé prayer led by Rica Lavilla and the missionary group from the Don Bosco Technical School, Gabutu. After the prayer, Fr Angel Sanchez SDB led the participants in lectio divina, inviting them to reflect on the history of the Samaritan woman and encouraging them to reflect on their own lives and relationships. Fr Gregorio Bicomong, Superior of the Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands (PGS) Vice-Province, led a session on the importance of building bridges through dialogue and understanding, highlighting the role that dreams play in shaping relationships and interactions. Throughout the day, participants were encouraged to engage in an open and respectful dialogue, sharing their thoughts and experiences. The focus of the programme was to build bridges and promote dialogue to inspire meaningful connections and create lasting relationships between participants.

Poznań, Poland – June 2024 - The Congress of Salesian Schools in the Province of Wrocław (PLO) was held in Poznań on 13 and 14 June under the title "STA ALLEGRO" (Be cheerful). The event brought together students from all the cities where there are Salesian schools: Lubin, Tarnowskie Góry, Leszno, Wrocław and Poznań. The motto was "Like us", in reference to the five blessed martyrs of Poznań, whom the church commemorates on 12 June. The programme of the congress was rich and diverse. High school students had the opportunity to visit an emotional location in Poznań, Fort VII, which is an important place in the history of Poland. While the younger participants participated in a research with Piątka Poznańska to deepen their knowledge of the history of the region. During the Eucharist, presided over by Fr Bartłomiej Polański, Superior of the PLO Province, and the evening adoration led by the choir of Salesian students, the participants were able to pray together and experience the importance of Salesian values for young people. The sports competitions and a theatre festival in which school theatre groups took part were important moments to showcase the athletic and artistic and creative talents of the participants. The meeting of student governments allowed the exchange of experiences and ideas for the development of Salesian schools.

Turin, Italy – June 2024 – On 8 June, eleven Salesians from the Don Bosco Crocetta International Institute were ordained Deacons by Bishop Alessandro Giraudo, the Auxiliary Bishop of Turin. The new deacons are De Jesus José M. R. Fernandes (Timor-Leste), Giuliano Tommaso (Italy), Kineme Rufin (DR Congo), Licciardi Mariano Filippo (Italy), Lopes Alarico Casimero (Timor-Leste), Niyoyitungira Emmanuel (Burundi), Panmei Anthony (India), Převor Josef (Czech Republic), Rozsypálek Jan (Czech Republic), Torella Paolo (Italy) and Wiwoloku John (Nigeria).
