Bulgaria - Pope Francis visits Vrazhdebna refugee camp
Vrazhdebna, Bulgaria - 6 May 2019 - Pope Francis, visiting Bulgaria, went to the Vrazhdebna refugee reception center, where he was welcomed by the center director and the director of Caritas. He then met about 50 people in the refectory, including parents and children from Syria and Iraq, and center volunteers. The children gave the Pope drawings and a choir cheered the meeting with various songs. In a short greeting, the Pope underscored the painful journey of these children and their families to escape war and misery, to leave their homeland and to try to enter other areas of the world. "Today the world of migrants and refugees is a bit of a cross, a cross of humanity, and the cross is a lot of people who suffer."
