Colombia - Beginning of Fr Francesco Cereda's Visit to Medellín Province
Medellín, Colombia - October 2017 - On the afternoon of 26 October, Fr Francesco Cereda, Vicar of the Rector Major, accompanied by his Secretary, Fr Saimy Ezhanikatt, arrived in the Salesian Province of Medellín. Fr Cereda's visit focuses on two topics for reflection: the Rector Major's letter with regard to the 2016 Extraordinary Visit, and the reconfiguration of the Congregation and the Provinces. At the first meeting, he held talks with the Council and the community of the Provincial house with a discussion on working with lay people. He invited everyone "to reproduce a Church model wherein all existing vocation models are present, models which reciprocally support and complete each other with the objective of growing together in the Mission." Fr Cereda said, "For the Medellín Province, we do not think about working with lay people out of necessity, since there are Salesians and vocations, but we think about it as a possibility of growing together."
