Myanmar – Summer Programs for Youth Continue Despite Earthquakes
Mandalay, Myanmar – April 15, 2025 - At the Don Bosco Mandalay community, summer programs for youth went ahead successfully despite recent earthquakes.
The programs ran from March 10 to April 12 and offered various basic courses in catechism, English, guitar, piano, and sports.
According to engineering assessments, although there were numerous aftershocks, they weren’t deemed dangerous enough to halt daily classes, which continued indoors.
However, for safety reasons, the youths slept at night in an open hall used for Mass, rosaries, meetings, and lessons, as the chapel and some buildings were badly damaged and require major repairs.
Despite the challenges, the young participants were excited and happy to learn new things in a vibrant and safe environment.
