Germany – Zambian Youth Engage in Cultural Exchange on Sustainable Development
Germany – April 2025 – As part of a dynamic cultural exchange initiative, eleven young Zambians traveled to Germany to present artistic interpretations of SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.Last October, a program was launched that really shines a spotlight on the importance of young people’s voices in global discussions about sustainable development. The Zambian participants spent months getting ready with local artists and mentors, creating a mix of music, dance, visual art, and poetry. All of it was designed to spark thought and inspire action on creating economic opportunities in their communities.
While in Germany, they’ll attend workshops, networking events, and cultural exhibitions alongside German peers. Sponsored by the Salesians of Don Bosco in Germany, with support from Claudia Steiner and Fr. Christopher Kunda (Youth Delegate of the ZMB Vice Province), the initiative not only showcases Zambia’s rich culture but fosters dialogue around shared challenges and solutions. Upon returning home, participants plan to host workshops and exhibitions to spread what they've learned and promote SDG 8 locally.
