Italy – SYM Youth Meet 2025: "Originals, Not Copies"

02 April 2025

Mogliano Veneto, Italy – March 2025 – On Sunday, March 30, the SYM Youth Meet 2025 took place at the Astori Salesian College in Mogliano Veneto, and turned out to be a day of celebration and formation dedicated to middle school students. The event gathered around 1,400 participants from Salesian houses of Don Bosco and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) of the Triveneto region, as well as from numerous local parishes.

The theme, "Originals, Not Copies," was inspired by Blessed Carlo Acutis, who will be canonized on April 27. A theatrical performance by SYM Play centered on Acutis' life served as the highlight of the morning session. Through humor, creativity, and engaging storytelling, the play depicted a group of young people dealing with a mysterious machine that makes decisions for them. Their journey led them to rediscover the freedom to choose, the courage to be authentic, and the beauty of living as their true selves.

The morning continued with a Eucharistic celebration led by Fr. Francesco Andreoli, in charge of oratories and youth centers in the Salesian Province of North-East Italy (INE). The afternoon featured 60 activity booths, offering participants challenges, skill tests, themed games, and creative experiences. These were managed with enthusiasm and responsibility by over 200 third-year middle school students.

Carlo Acutis' words, "Everyone is born original, but many die as copies," echoed throughout the event, encouraging each participant to embrace their uniqueness with confidence, freedom, and responsibility.
