Malta - Over 500 members of the Salesian Family gathered to celebrate mission milestones and family values

28 January 2025

Malta - January 2025 - On Sunday, 26 January, over 500 members of the Salesian Family gathered for a special Mass to celebrate missionary zeal and family values. The event was one of the first celebrations for the 150th anniversary of Don Bosco's first missionary expedition. A key moment of the meeting was the heartfelt presentation by Fr Eric Cachia, Superior of the Salesian Vice-Province of Malta (MLT), of a memento of appreciation to seven Maltese Salesian missionaries, with a special mention for six others who continue to live and serve in mission territories. This significant gesture recognised their selfless dedication and tireless service in the spirit of St John Bosco. Present were five of the Salesians honoured, missionaries from four to over forty years. Amidst the joyful presence of children, young people and parents, Fr Cachia urged prayers for more missionary vocations and emphasised the importance of healthy families as the foundation of holy vocations, both to consecrated and married life. The celebration not only paid homage to the past, but also looked to the future, inspiring all present to continue to support the Salesian mission of love, service and education for the most vulnerable.
