21 January 2025

Ruashi, DR Congo – January 2025 –The Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) organised the third edition of the Pastoral School from 15 to 19 January in Ruashi, at the Saint Vincent de Paul Technical College, under the guidance of Don Jonas and Sister Josephine Bella, FMA. It was dedicated to young leaders and members of the Pastoral of Salesian works in the southern area of the AFC Province. The central theme of the event was "Young people, pilgrims in hope in the heart of a synodal Church". The Pastoral School is spiritual and pastoral formation aimed at strengthening the skills and Salesian spirituality of young leaders engaged in pastoral work at the service of their brothers and sisters. The 2025 edition of the Pastoral School brought together 260 young people divided into 17 small groups called "families", for the practical application of the teachings received and for the active participation of others. The formators set themselves the following objectives: to develop the personal and collective spirituality of young leaders; to strengthen their skills in pastoral management in a synodal spirit; to promote the exchange of experiences and good practices between them and their formators. Several planned activities have been successfully carried out that have allowed young people to celebrate their faith and put Christ at the center of this beautiful formation. Conferences and debates touched on various current issues, as well as a very stimulating spiritual formation with SDB, FMA and other guest priests, who shared their knowledge and experiences on various aspects of spiritual and pastoral life.
