DR Congo – Presentation of Strenna 2025 to the Salesian Family in Kalemie
Goma, DR Congo – January 2025 – The Salesian Family in Goma met on 16 January, at the Don Bosco Ngangi Youth Centre, for the presentation of Strenna 2025 by the Vicar of the Rector Major, on the theme "Anchored in hope, pilgrims with young people". The event was well attended by a large number of members from all the groups of the Salesian Family from the Delegation of Saint Joseph of Central-East Africa , the Salesian works in Ngangi, ITIG, Mamma Margart and Boscolac. The day began with an opening prayer led by the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, followed by the best wishes for the New Year addressed to the entire Salesian Family in Goma and to the Delegation by Fr Gauthier Tshibangu, Delegate of the Provincial in AFC-Est. Fr Marc Nawej, SDB, then presented the theme of Strenna 2025, exploring it through five key points and the testimonies of three young people and two lay educators. All the SF groups in the AFC-EST were then presented. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr Tshibangu, who in his homily meditated on a key biblical passage: "Hope does not disappoint", urging the members of the SF to keep hope intact, despite the trials of life.
