Brazil – The parish of Our Lady of the Rosary in Oeiras entrusted to the Salesians
Oeiras, Brazil – January 2025 - Last Wednesday night, 15 January, Our Lady of the Rosary parish in Oeiras was the scene of a historic moment for the local Catholic community, when Fr José Geraldo de Albuquerque, SDB, was installed as the new administrator of the parish, which marks the beginning of the Salesian presence under his leadership. The celebration, presided over by Bishop Edilson Soares Nobre, Diocesan Bishop of Oeiras, was concelebrated by Fr Francisco Inácio, SDB, Superior of the Salesian Province of Recife, Brazil (BRE), other diocesan priests and Salesians, as well as leaders of the parish community. On the occasion, the parish community also welcomed the new Salesian community, Fr José Pereira, SDB, responsible for the Salesian presence, and Salesian Brother Gabriel Ferreira, responsible for the Salesian Oratory and Youth Coordination (SYM).
