Honduras - Mary Help of Christians parish in Comayagüela takes a step towards sustainability with the installation of solar panels
Comayagüela, Honduras - December 2024 – Mary Help of Christians parish has taken an important step towards sustainability with the installation of 40 solar panels, which will generate about 2,622 kW per month of renewable energy for the Salesian work. This project was possible thanks to the support of the Salesian Province of Central America (CAM), added to the efforts of the Parish. On 10 December the Salesian community and some collaborators met at the parish headquarters with the engineers responsible for the project of the company Tecknos Solar S.A. During the meeting, instructions on the operation of the plant were provided and a tour of the area, installation of the panels and control warehouse were carried out. The solar panels will directly power the first floor of the construction site during the day, helping to avoid blackouts and reduce electricity costs. This initiative underlines the Salesians' commitment to caring for the environment and its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, promoting an ecological life and a more just world in harmony with nature.
