Argentina – Father Carmelo Sciullo Salesian Museum reopened in Formosa

13 November 2024

Formosa, Argentina – November 2024 - The Salesian community in Formosa celebrated the reopening of the Salesian  "Father Carmelo Sciullo" Museum, a renewed space dedicated to preserving the rich history of the Salesian presence in the city. This museum is a symbol of the joint work between the Salesian missionaries and the local community. It reopens its doors as a testimony to the commitment and legacy of those who have dedicated their lives to the service of the population in Formosa. The reopening ceremony took place at the end of October and was presided over by Fr Carlos Bosio, director of the Museum and of the Salesian House in Formosa. The Salesian community chose the name of the museum in tribute to Father Carmelo Sciullo, a Salesian missionary priest who arrived in Formosa in 1976 and who worked tirelessly for the population in Formosa and who was above all an eminent defender of the rights of the native populations of the region. Every corner and piece of the Father Carmelo Sciullo Museum tells a story and honours the commitment, dedication and legacy of the Salesians in Formosa, a presence that this year celebrates its 75th anniversary. This reopening invites the entire community to rediscover their history and learn more about who has been the pillar of service and education in the region.
