Jerusalem – Celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Studium Theologicum Salesianum in Jerusalem
Jerusalem – October 2024 - Saturday 19 October, the Studium Theologicum Salesianum (STS) in Jerusalem held its annual Academic Day. The event also celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the Pontifical University in Jerusalem at Ratisbonne Monastery. The Jerusalem campus of the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS) was established by decree of the Congregation for Catholic Education on 2 February 2011. The study centre is the legacy of the Studium Theologicum Salesianum (STS), initially founded in Bethlehem (1929), then transferred to Tantur (1949), then to Cremisan (1957) and finally transferred to the Ratisbonne Monastery in Jerusalem (2004). This year's Lectio Magistralis, entitled "The origin of the psalms in public worship and private meditation - a modern perspective", was held by Prof. Alessandro Coniglio, OFM, professor of Biblical Hebrew and Old Testament exegesis at the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum in Jerusalem. The event brought together about 70 people, including students, professors and friends of the campus.
