South Sudan – Cultural Day in Don Bosco Nursery and Primary School

Tonj, South Sudan – July 2024 – Don Bosco Nursery and Primary school celebrated the annual cultural of school. During the inaugural Eucharistic celebration Fr Joseph Hung, the Rector and Principal reminded the students that “There is no better or superior cultures in the world, each culture is unique and beautiful in itself. When a culture protects and promotes life it is socially accepted.” Hence, there was cultural presentation from Baby class in kindergarten up to Primary Eight. Each class had the chance to present one of their choices among Dramas, Singing and Dance. The day was colourful with variety of presentations of the cultures from different tribes in South Sudan especially around Tonj. Fr Omar Delasa SDB along with the 10 lay volunteers from Italy were the chief guests for the day. The purpose of the celebration was to promote peace and unity among diverse cultures and tribes, therefore it wasn’t a competition but presentation so as to acknowledge beauties in different tribes in South Sudan. Through these presentations the students were able to know their talents and the existence of other tribes and cultural practices in South Sudan.
