Portugal – Over two hundred young people involved in the National Camp "Enlighten the lives of those young people who thirst for God"
Mogofores, Portugal – July 2024 – From 22 to 26 July Mogofores was the scene of a great celebration of Salesian youth, the National Camp of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM). Over two hundred young people took part in the event, focused on the theme "Enter the Dream?", on the occasion of the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of Don Bosco's Dream at Nine Years of Age. The activities, carefully prepared, were promoted by a large team of leaders, Salesian Cooperators, Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) who tried to highlight the importance of youth leadership in building a more just and fraternal world. During the five days of the camp, young people from different SDB and FMA centres in the country were involved in numerous recreational, sports and pastoral activities, promoting integration and friendship among all. "Mogofores was the capital of Salesian youth, where joy and friendship reigned. We felt like we were in Valdocco where Salesians, FMAs and young people were like a family, "said Fr Juan Freitas, National Delegate for Youth Ministry. In a spirit of true communion and closeness, they all committed themselves to "enlighten the lives of those young people who thirst for God", Fr Freitas said.
