Tanzania – The first Provincial Chapter of the Province of Tanzania (TZA)
Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania – May 2024 – The Saint Artemides Zatti Province of Tanzania (TZA) met at the Provincial House Oyster Bay, in Dar Es Salaam, to hold its first Provincial Chapter, which took place from 6 to 10 May last. The Chapter brought together a total of 27 Salesians, as well as an observer group composed of Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Salesian Cooperators, Past Pupils, Catechist Sisters of Mary Immaculate Help of Christians and two young people. The opening Mass for the Chapter was celebrated by Archbishop Angelo Accattino, Apostolic Nuncio in Tanzania, while the concluding Mass was celebrated by Bishop Stephano Lameck Musomba, Auxiliary Bishop of Dar Es Salaam, representing Archbishop Jude Thaddaeus Ruwa'ichi, archbishop of Dar Es Salaam. The Chapter, which examined and studied the themes proposed for the next General Chapter, elected Fr Augustine Jacob Sellam, TZA Vice-Provincial as Delegate for GC29. In conclusion, on Saturday, 11 May the celebration of the Provincial Community Day took place to express support and closeness to the Superior of the TZA Province, Fr Emilius Aloyce Salema.
