28 February 2024

Jaboatão dos Guararapes, Brazil – February 2024 – The Provincial Meeting of Youth Ministry in the Salesian Province of Brazil-Recife (BRE) was held at the Salesian Colony of Jaboatão dos Guararapes from 23 to 25 February. The event was attended by about 40 people, including Salesian local pastoral coordinators and members of the teams. The first day had as its central objective a formation session by Prof. Anderson Alencar, on the theme "Ten Sensitivities for the Salesian School of the 21st Century". In addition to understanding the reality of youth, participants were challenged to understand the role of the Salesian School today. In the remaining days, divided into three groups, Parishes, Schools and Social Work, the opportunity was given to share the local situation, so that it was possible to prepare an activity plan in each area. On the last day, the participants received a visit from Fr Rafael Bejarano, from the Sector for Youth Ministry at Salesian Headquarters in Rome, Reference person for Social Work in America. The meeting was positively evaluated by all those present, with many praises for the consultancy work, also underlining the fact that they had the opportunity to address with Fr Bejarano concrete issues that will help a lot in the pastoral journey of the year that has just begun.
