South Sudan – Fr Alphonse Owoudou, Councillor for the Africa-Madagascar Region, visiting Salesian communities
Juba, South Sudan – December 2023 – During the Christmas holidays. the Councillor for the Africa-Madagascar Region, Fr Alphonse Owoudou, visited the Salesian Delegation of Sudan, which includes five communities. After landing in Juba on Christmas Day, he began his visit the next day, accompanied by Fr Paul Antimi, Provincial Delegate for Sudan. He then visited the community of Tonj, in the diocese of Rumbek, to attend the Diocesan Youth Congress held at the Salesian campus in Tonj. Here he was welcomed by members of the Salesian Family and by Bishop Christian Carlassare, bishop of Rumbek. The next day, on the 27th, he visited the community in Kuajok, meeting refugees and street children. On 28 December, Fr Owoudou went to the community in Wau, where he had the opportunity to converse with young people and street children, encouraging them to dream and work hard to realise their dreams through prayer and education. For the little ones, meeting the Regional Councillor was a listening and learning experience.
