Chile - Re-opening of the Cardinal Raúl Silva Henríquez Museum: recovering and valuing the Salesian charism

Santiago, Chile - November 2023 - The reopening of the Cardinal Raúl Silva Henríquez Museum was celebrated on 29 November with a Eucharist held in the chapel of the Salesian Provincial House in Chile. The main celebrant was Fr Carlo Lira, CIL Provincial, and concelebrants included Fr José Toledo, Provincial Economer, and Fr Leonardo Santibañez, Head of the Salesian Historical Archives. Speaking at the end of the Mass were the Deputy Director of the Metropolitan Region of the National Service of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Gabriel Díaz, and Javier Luis Egaña, Chilean diplomatic lawyer and first Executive Secretary of the Vicariate of Solidarity. Fr Lira and Fr Toledo led and promoted the projects to reopen the museum and the Salesian historical archives, with the aim of recovering, promoting and valunng the history of the Salesian Congregation's impact in Chile. The ceremony ended with the blessing of the museum, the ribbon cutting and a visit to the exhibition.
