Italy - The Councillor for the Mediterranean Region, Fr Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy visits the National Centre for Salesian Works

01 December 2023

Rome, Italy - November 2023 - From 28 to 30 November, the Councillor for the Mediterranean Region, Fr Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, visited the Salesian community and the laity at the National Centre of Salesian Works, also meeting the CNOS-FAP personnel in the complex of the catacombs of San Callisto. As part of the Extraordinary Visitation following up the General Chapter, the Regional Councillor had the opportunity to meet the San Lorenzo community and the staff working both at the National Centre in Via Giacomo Costamagna and at CNOS-FAP: meetings in which Fr Pérez Godoy had the opportunity to learn about the way they work and share their mission. Founding elements of the journey of communion are the Community Project and the path towards the drafting of the Salesian Pastoral Educational Project, which is being carried out by the Council of the Educative and Pastoral Community of the National Centre and with the accompaniment of Fr Michal Vojtáš. The conversation established with everyone presented the Regional Councillor with a vision of what has been achieved with the new National Centre, with a view to the future, to Salesian Italy and to the good of young people, especially the poorest. "We thank Fr Juan Carlos for his willingness to visit our community. It is a sign of the closeness of the Congregation and of the Rector Major to our work: this allowed him to place his finger on the pulse of our journey and allowed everyone to freely communicate their contribution to him at the start of a journey that began this year with some changes in the community" commented Fr Elio Cesari, president of the National Centre for Salesian Works.
