Rwanda - An agricultural course for single mothers at Don Bosco Muhazi

Muhazi, Rwanda - September 2023 - A new agricultural course was recently introduce at Don Bosco Muhazi in Rwanda, aimed at young single mothers still living with their parents. The primary objective is to empower women and provide support to the most vulnerable ones. 25 trainees have already enrolled in the initial phase, which will last an estimated six months, most of them from the Gasabo and Gicumbi districts. The young mothers have also received a kit to attend the course, complete with farming overalls, shoes, hoes, rakes, spades, sprayers, soaps and seeds for cultivation. Thanks to this course, the women can also learn how to prepare the fields for planting bananas, tomatoes, peppers and onions at an early stage. In addition, they will engage in animal husbandry, which will provide them with valuable results. The project also aims to strengthen gender equality.
