Brazil - Lenten Retreat for Past Pupils of Don Bosco of America
Brasilia, Brazil - March 2023 - The Lenten Retreat for the Past Pupils of Don Bosco of America, coordinated by the continent's Commission for Ongoing Formation and Spirituality, was held digitally on March 25. The retreat focused on the theme "We prepare to live Easter as true Past Pupils of Don Bosco, being leaven in the Human Family," and was attended by Presidents, Delegates and Past Pupils from different countries. Opening remarks were given by the Vice President of the World Confederation of Past Pupils of Don Bosco and World Councilor for the Americas, Eduardo Pessoa Cavalcante, who thanked all the participants and addressed some encouraging words in the line of synodality; and the Vice President of the Association of Past Pupils of Costa Rica, Miguel González, who, accompanied by President Mario Lizano, urged them to take advantage of the meeting to become leaven that transforms the masses. For the opening reflection, singer-songwriter José Luis Hernandez spoke and played songs to initiate the encounter with God. Finally, for the main theme, the Salesian Provincial of Central America, Fr. Julio Navarro, spoke, pointing out that the call God gives to each person must be lived out in continuous dedication. "Making our life a life-giving dedication, since we are the fruit of other dedications: of our parents, of the Salesians and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians who educated us, of Don Bosco, and primarily of Christ," were recalled on the occasion.
