Brazil - Operation Mato Grosso delivers 300 food baskets for indigenous families in Campinápolis
Campinápolis, Brazil - April 2023 - Holy Week in the Nova Xavantina region began with a major social action by Operation Mato Grosso volunteers. On April 5, some 300 food baskets were distributed among families in various Xavante villages in the region, all of which are served by the "St. Dominic Savio" parish in Campinápolis. The initiative was made possible thanks to long-distance donations, mainly from Italy. The benefactors make this concrete gesture at Easter and Christmas, donating food baskets to the children. Vanderley Miranda, Clemilson Oliveira and Alberto Tescaroli led Operation Mato Grosso in collaboration with the Salesian Mission of Mato Grosso, represented in the action by Deacon José Alves de Oliveira, SDB. The Salesian deacon works daily in caring for the region's indigenous people and, in this activity, helped prepare and distribute food baskets.
