Chile - April 2023 - The Extraordinary Visit to the Salesian Province of Chile (CIL) continues, led by Fr. Gabriel Romero, Councilor for the America South Cone Region, on behalf of the Rector Major. From March 29 to 31, Fr. Romero was at the Salesian boarding school in Linares. During his stay, he visited the various sections of the Institute and met with members of the educational community. Romero took part in the quarterly retreat of the Salesian presences of Talca, Linares, and Concepción, which was also attended by various lay people from Salesian works and pastoral workers from several parishes. During the meeting, the Regional Councilor proposed a reflection to animate them in the collaborative and co-responsible work between Salesians and laity, typical of Salesian spirituality. Then, on April 1, he went to Talca where he attended the meeting of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM). Addressing a message to the young people Fr. Romero urged them to strengthen their participation in the groups by highlighting that "our groups help us to be more friends of Jesus, more friends of Our Lady because centrality in Jesus is the most important message for us." Afterward, the Regional Councilor met with the Salesian Family Council group from Talca and in the afternoon visited the parish of "Santa Ana" and celebrated the Eucharist. On Palm Sunday, Fr. Romero presided over Mass at the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians with members of the Salesian Family and pastoral workers. In the afternoon, he met with the Bishop of the Diocese, Msgr. Galo Fernández. On April 3, after saying "good morning" to the students and the educational community, Fr. Romero gathered with the Rector of the Salesian Educational Center in Talca, then with the Board of Directors together with representatives of the students and parents.
