Mexico - "Quinquennium" 2022 meeting of MEM and MEG Salesian Provinces

14 July 2022

Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico - July 05, 2022 - For Salesians of Don Bosco, the first five years since priestly ordination and perpetual profession of Salesian Coadjutors are accompanied in a special way by the Congregation and the Provinces of residence of each Salesian. One of the most important moments is the week-long meeting called "Quinquennium," which this year, for the Salesians of the two Mexican Provinces -Mexico-Guadalajara (MEG) and Mexico-México (MEM) - took place from June 27 to July 1 in the former Salesian novitiate house of Chulavista, in Rivera de Chapala, in the state of Jalisco. On this occasion, participants experienced moments of vocational renewal, brotherly encounters, and formative updating. Three Salesian priests from the MEM Province and four Salesian priests and one Salesian coadjutor brother from the MEG Province participated. Fr. Filiberto González, SDB, MEG Provincial, accompanied the participants on Wednesday, June 27. While Fr. José Luis Plascencia, SDB, contributed extensive reflections on the field of theology and religious life and several interventions distributed during the week of the meeting. The contents reflected upon during this week were accompanied by moments of Eucharistic celebration, prayer, times for fraternity, and a walk. Moments like this motivated sharing among confreres and provoked the joy proper to the Salesian charism.
