Benin - Young people in street situations make bracelets
Cotonou, Benin - July 2021 - To help young people in street situations understand the importance of self-care, the Salesian Center "Mamma Margaret" in Cotonou has started the production of bracelets of small pearls with transparent thread. After the young people have manufactured the bracelets, the NGO "Mi Baobab" proceeds to market them. The proceeds, albeit modest, are used to remunerate young people who prefer to make bracelets rather than work in the market. The "Mamma Margherita" Center is studying other activities in order to convince young people that there is an alternative to life on the street.
