Nairobi, Kenya - April 14th 2021 - Fr. Alphonse Owoudou, Regional Superior for Africa Madagascar, inaugurated and blessed the new Convergent Media Centre at Don Bosco Boys Town in Nairobi. This will be the first one of this kind in the Salesian Africa region. Don Bosco Boys' Town Convergent Media Centre (DBBTCMC) is added to Boys Town's existing facilities primarily to promote its students' talents. There are many students interested in media; we hope to help them develop their talents through this initiative. Today media, Traditional (print and broadcast) and Digital, are converging into single platform, so there is a need to understand it and learn to use it.  In addition to training in content creation for print, audio, graphics, and video for traditional media outlets and different social media platforms, we plan to give Media Education to various groups of youth, religious, teachers, formators, etc., with a special focus on Digital Media. As smartphones are in practically everyone's hands, we hope to train our target in content creation using smartphones. Social media marketing, writing for social media, user experience, media innovation, and podcasts will be some of the additional topics imparted to those interested.
