Zambia - Salesian presence in Makululu slums
Makululu, Zambia - August 2020 - Davis lives here, in the Makulu slums; he has lost his father and his mother is mentally ill. Until two years ago, he lived with his mother, was beaten, was not given food and could not go to school. He was looking for food and love on the street. Mumba also lost his father, his stepfather didn't want him at home. The boy lived on the street, begged for alms, looked for some work to eat something. Austin lived with his grandmother. Just like Davis he didn't go to school and was looking for food on the street. Now, all these young people have been taken under the care of the Salesians who, even in Zambia, are present alongside disadvantaged young people and offer them the necessary support and care.
