Vatican - Mons. Miguel Ángel Olaverri Arroniz, SDB, first Metropolitan Archbishop of Pointe-Noire

Vatican City, Vatican - May 2020 - On May 30, Pope Francis erected the Ecclesiastical Province of Pointe-Noire (Republic of the Congo), elevating the Diocese in question to a Metropolitan Church; it will have the Dioceses of Dolisie and Nkayi as suffragan Churches. He appointed its first Metropolitan Archbishop Msgr. Miguel Ángel Olaverri Arroniz, SDB, current Bishop of Pointe-Noire. The new Ecclesiastical Province of Pointe-Noire will have the Dioceses of Dolisie and Nkayi as suffragans. It will also be called Ecclesiastical Province of the Southwest. In the photo Msgr.
