Portugal - Salesians in Funchal bring comfort to people quarantined in hotels
Funchal, Portugal - April 2020 - The Salesians of Funchal are bringing spiritual comfort to those who must spend the quarantine period in hotels. From March 23, in fact, all passengers disembarking at the airports of the Madeira archipelago are obliged to complete a quarantine period in the hotels of the autonomous region to avoid infecting the population with the new coronavirus. Luís Caldeira, director of the "Vila Galé" hotel in Santa Cruz, thus asked the Salesians for a celebration with the presence of a statue of Our Lady of Fatima in the hotel gardens. The Salesians accepted and on the evening of Saturday 25 April they conducted a moment of prayer and blessing in the hotel.
