Jubilees throughout history

The first Jubilee in the Christian era was in 1300. With the bull Antiquorum habet, on 22 February 1300, Boniface VIII proclaimed the 1300 Jubilee Year, emphasising that Romans who visited the basilicas of St. Peter and St Paul thirty times a year would be granted a plenary indulgence, while fifteen visits would be enough for pilgrims coming from outside Rome.

The Rector Major’s messages to young people in the Salesian Youth Movement

For some years the Rector Major of the Salesians, on the occasion of the feast of Don Bosco, on 31 January, has sent a "letter" to the young people of the Salesian Youth Movement around the world as a greeting, a moment of warmth, an exchange of best wishes. In general, this message comes from the theme of Strenna, or from some Congregation and Church event, such as WYD, the Holy Year, the Synod on young people, or some special Salesian anniversary.

The stable where John Bosco, as a child, gathered his neighbours for readings

In the lower part of the house at the Becchi, the rural house of the Bosco Occhiena family, there was a cowshed that became one of the favourite places in the house once the cold weather arrived.
