(ANS - Addis Ababa) - Around the big dump called "Koshe", on the outskirts of Addis Ababa, there are hundreds of huts made of wood and mud, or at best sheet metal, if you are among the lucky ones. This is where hundreds of people live every day. On Saturday 11 March, dozens of them died, swept away by a landslide of rubbish. There are at least 113 dead, including many women and children, some of whom were studying at the local Salesian school.
(ANS - Rome) - A few hours after the end of the Team Visit to the East Asia-Oceania Region, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, along with his secretary, Fr Horacio López, set out again on Tuesday 14 March on another intercontinental journey, this time to South America. In the next few days he will first visit Chile, because of the centenary of the death of Msgr. Fagnano, and subsequently preside at the Team Visit to the American Southern Cone Region, at Ypacaraí in Paraguay.
(ANS - Garigaon) - Garigaon is a small settlement located in a strongly tribal region, in the state of Assam. Most of the inhabitants belong to different ethnic groups. They came there as migrants, either because they had abandoned their inaccessible areas of origin in search of a job, or because the lands they cultivated were expropriated. But the living conditions of these families have not improved after migration, with the added weight of the misery of displacement. The Sons of Don Bosco are working to help them.
