Italy - Online Studies Centre of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians

11 May 2016

(ANS - Rome) - From Monday 9 May, the anniversary of the birth of Mother Mazzarello, the Studies Centre of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) at the Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences at "Auxilium" in Rome is available online. As well as giving information on the activities of the FMA Study Centre, the site aims to be a service and a research and documentation space where the FMA, Past Pupils, Salesians and Salesian Family members and those who are interested in the female dimension of the Salesian educative spirituality can refer to contributions on the history, pedagogy and spirituality of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians from the origins (1872) to today.

In the "Documents" section there is a bibliography of sources and studies, as well as full texts in pdf format. The materials concerning the founders, Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello and the FMA Institute are divided into sections to facilitate consultation of volumes, contributions that appeared in miscellaneous books, and articles in journals and essays. In particular, can be found all the studies on the FMA published over the years in the "Journal of Education" and in "Salesian Historical Research".

Anyone can have access to resources, to dialogue, to follow the discussion under way, and to cooperate in research and cultural collaboration at an international level. The material available on the site will be continuously updated and more texts will be added in different languages.

The FMA Study Centre, officially opened last September, aims to promote studies and scientific research from an interdisciplinary perspective; to promote various activities with the dissemination of texts and documentation on topics relevant to the FMA in the Salesian Family; to cultivate collaboration and establish itself as an institutional reference resource for the implementation of cultural initiatives shared with the Salesians and other members of the Salesian Family.

The Commission of the Centro Studi FMA consists of professors Grazia Loparco who is the coordinator, Piera Ruffinatto and Sylwia Ciezkowska.
