On the seventh day of his visit to Spain, the Rector Major spoke to the students of the Padre Aramburu Salesian School and with the workers of the Juan Soñador Foundation Social Platforms in Burgos. Fr Á.F. Artime recalled once again the reasons that led him to become a Salesian and said: "God has accompanied my career in a way that I could not have imagined."
On Thursday 5 May the Rector Major visited the Salesian Houses in Arévalo near Avila and Salamanca. He was welcomed by the Salesian Family, the local people and the mayor, Mr. Vidal Galicia, who expressed his thanks for the presence and the work done by the Salesians. In the “good morning” talk, the Rector Major encouraged everyone to "appreciate what you have in life" and gave the example of those children from around the world who have to walk many kilometres every day to go to school. He later visited the elderly Salesians in the nursing home and encouraged them to continue to live their condition "although sometimes difficult, as another stage of a happy life."
At midday he arrived at the school of Mary Help of Christians in Salamanca, where he was met by the students of the Salesian schools in the city, Mary Help of Christians and Pizarrales. He was received by Bishop Carlos López of Salamanca, and the Director of the house and the school, Fr Manuel Aparicio. After greeting the children, young people and parents, he told the teachers: "you make real the dream of Don Bosco, here in Salamanca."
