Spain – International Volunteer Training 2025 Begins

06 March 2025

Spain – March 2025 – On February 8, the 2025 International Volunteer Training began in El Campello, Alicante, as part of the Campobosco 2025 Pastoral Congress. In this first session, two volunteers from the Valencian Community participated in a training led by Fr. Pablo Gómez Latorre SDB, who explored the Salesian charism in volunteerism. The session covered personal motivations and the work of the NGO Bosco Global. On February 22 and 23, simultaneous meetings were held in Andalusia and Catalonia. In Seville, nine volunteers began their training in collaboration with ONGD Proclade Bética (an NGO) at the San Antonio María Claret School, focusing on volunteer motivation, global inequalities, and the role of development cooperation. In Poblet, Tarragona, five volunteers from Catalonia and the Balearic Islands delved into Salesian educational projects and engaged in discussions on personal motivations, ethical positioning, and group cohesion.

The training, guided by a team of experienced volunteers, will continue until June, when participants will travel to Latin America and Africa. Throughout the process, they will reflect on migration, development cooperation, and global inequalities while preparing for their fieldwork.

In September, a final gathering will allow volunteers to evaluate their experience and strengthen their commitment to global justice. Through this initiative, Bosco Global reaffirms its dedication to meaningful and transformative international volunteerism.
