Italy – XXVI National Training Course for Teachers of Catholic Religion: "Emotional Education and Catholic Religious Education"

Messina, Italy – February 2025 – From February 12 to 15, the 26th National Training Course for Catholic Religion Teachers, titled "Emotional Education and Catholic Religious Education (IRC)", was held at the Center for Religious Pedagogy of San Tommaso in Messina. The course was authorized by the Italian Ministry of Education and Merit, with the approval of the National Catholic Religion Education Office of the Italian Episcopal Conference. 

About one hundred Catholic Religion teachers from across Italy participated. Following the introduction by Fr. Antonino Romano, SDB, Director of the "Giovanni Cravotta" Center for Religious Pedagogy, Director of the journal Catechesi Nuova Serie, and Director of the Mediterranean Youth Observatory, the event began with institutional greetings, including a special address from the Archbishop of Messina, Monsignor Accolla.

The course topics were divided into four sessions:
a) Teaching emotional education in the anthropological, pastoral, and educational contexts of Italian schools (Di Fiore, Annicchiarico, Pira).
b) Emotional education and human learning (Murdaca, Bagnato, Nuzzacci, D’Ignoti, Pisana, Poggio, Di Meo, Di Bernardo, Parisi).
c) Transdisciplinary approaches between emotional education and Catholic Religious Education: experiments and teaching strategies (Costa, La Camera, Carbonara, Bellanca).
d) Emotional education and integrative strategies for Catholic Religious Education.

The research findings and discussions from the course will be published in the journal Catechesi.
